” There are fewer trees in the socio-economic poorer areas of Cork than in the affluent areas, and this was a finding of the recent tree officer’s strategy that included a map of tree canopy cover in Cork with relevant stats. We have significantly added to the tree cover in this part of the city. It will take about five years for the trees to reach an accountable height but this is the necessary start, nevertheless, the impact will be immediate. The trees are a great addition to the school. As they grow and mature their real value will become evident in providing habitat for biodiversity, providing an educational corridor for the children, providing shelter, fruit, beauty and so much more.”
