Revolution recently took part in another tree planting experience, bringing together clients, partners, community groups and local farmers for a day dedicated to restoring biodiversity and supporting the local environment in Cork.
Now in its third year, the initiative has become an annual tradition for the Revolution team. This year’s event saw participants plant over 230 native trees across four farms in the Cork area, helping strengthen local ecosystems while supporting farmers who are committed to maintaining the trees for the long term.
The day was organised in close partnership with Green Spaces for Health, led by Maria Young, whose work focuses on connecting environmental restoration with community wellbeing. Their support and expertise have been central to the project since the beginning, helping ensure that the planting efforts benefit both nature and the people involved.
Participants included Revolution’s team, our clients, local farmers, community members, the Tracton Biodiversity Group, and our partners and friends. The trees planted were native oak saplings grown from local acorns in Cork, continuing a cycle that starts with local seeds and returns to local land.
Local farmer Barry Good kindly welcomed the group onto his land and will care for the newly planted trees as they mature. Long-term stewardship from local landowners plays a crucial role in ensuring that the trees continue to grow and contribute to the landscape for decades to come.
Tree planting initiatives like this support biodiversity, soil health and carbon capture, while also strengthening community connections with the natural environment. Spending time outdoors and participating in hands-on environmental work has also been linked to improved physical and mental wellbeing, which aligns closely with the work of Green Spaces for Health.
For us in Revolution, it’s always an opportunity to bring together the people the agency works with every day and contribute something tangible to the local environment.
With another successful year completed, the team is already looking ahead to continuing the initiative in the future.
Onwards to 2027. 🌱
